Our land
Our company is located in a truly special area. Eocene sediments of the Ligurian-Piedmontese Ocean have been found. The ocean was located between the Adria promontory of the African paleocontinent (the future Italy) and the European paleocontinent. The two continents collided with each other, causing the ocean to disappear and raising the Alps. The ocean sediments then formed the Alps, but we also find them in our area. The vineyards are on the so-called “Pietra da Cantoni” dating back to about 17 to 15 million years ago (Miocene/Upper Burdigalian - Langhian);
The soils are calcareous, whitish and very fossiliferous (they were environments with a warm-tropical temperate climate).
Analyzing the Earth under the Microscope
you can find a lot of plankton and some sea urchin spines. This territorial characteristic is crucial for the quality of our wines.
